Health & Safety: Taxi for Student/Staff Member

Taxi for Student/Staff Member

We are unable to transport someone home by taxi who has had a minor accident or sickness.

We are however, able to provide a taxi to the nearest local Accident and Emergency Department only, if needed.

A taxi can be provided to the nearest A&E department if an injury does not require calling out an ambulance but does need attending to by medical personnel.   Please contact security on x6841 who have been instructed as above.

The University has a contract with the taxi company and Health,Safety,Resilience dept will pay the cost of the taxi.  There will be no charge to the passenger(s).

Contact HSR if there are problems getting Security to summon taxi

First aiders/other staff should advise students or staff members who do not need to attend hospital to contact a family member or friend to pick them up and take them home where necessary.

If an accident or ill health is serious an ambulance should still be called.  The First Aider/staff should call the ambulance as soon as they make the judgement that the casualty requires further medical treatment.  Soon after calling the ambulance, the First Aider should inform Security so that security protocols can be observed and enable the process to go as smoothly as possible.  The First Aider should then report the incident to HSR

Staff Member

In the rare circumstance of one of our own staff becoming unwell we can get them a taxi which can be to hospital or to go home as the Univ has an account with a taxi service for this. This should only be used in exceptional circumstances when it is genuinely needed

Please use this firm and quote the account number  and the staff member won't then be asked for any money by the taxi as they will just bill the University

London Taxis - Black Cabs (Gett taxis): 020 7397 4306

You will be asked for an account number and account name.

Account number - 18195537

Account name - South Bank University (the taxi company recognise us as South Bank rather than LSBU)

Firm will have a standard Univ address of 103 Borough Road on their records so you'll need to let them know our address which is Perry Library, 250 Southwark Bridge Road SE1 6NJ

Any issue with company please refer to Business Support

You should be given a reference number for the job, please pass this onto Business Support as the dept will be billed by the taxi firm
