LSBU Harvard Referencing: Journal article (online)

Journal articles in the LSBU databases can be referenced as print journal articles.  Use Journal article (print) for the correct reference.

Use the guidance on this page to reference articles found outside of LSBU, eg. on Google Scholar or Researchgate

Format of the reference

You will need:

  • Name of the author(s)
  • Year of publication
  • Title of the article
  • Title of the journal
  • Volume and issue numbers
  • Page range
  • Either a DOI or a web address and access date

 

DOI

If there is a DOI available put it at the end of the reference.

Format:

Author’s surname, Initials. (Year of publication) Title of the article, Title of the Journal, volume number (issue number), page range of the article. DOI: DOI number.

Example:

Serebryannikov, S. V. (2010) The Moscow power engineering institute (Technical University): from 1930 to 2010, Thermal Engineering, 57 (12), pp. 12-30. DOI: 10.1134/S0040601510120025.

In-text citation: (Serebryannikov, 2010)

 

If there is no digital object identifier (DOI): 

 

Web address

If the article is from the open web, such as Google Scholar or ResearchGate, add Available from: URL [Accessed date].

Format:

Author’s surname, Initials. (Year of publication) Title of the article, Title of the Journal, volume number (issue number), page range of the article. Available from: www.webaddress.com [Accessed day month year].

Example:

Connor, J. D., Sinclair, W. H., Leicht, A. S. and Doma, K. (2019) Analysis of cricket ball type and innings on state level cricket batter’s performance, Frontiers in Psychology, October, pp. 133-137. Available from: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.02347/full [Accessed 21 January 2021].
