Perry Library: Reduced Services

Reduced services on Campus

We are pleased to announce that from Monday 10th August the Perry Library will once again be open on a 'walk-in' basis.

There will be changes to how you access study spaces and safety measures in the building

  • You must wear a face covering to come into the Library unless exempt due to disability/health or other reasons

  • Our study space bookings end on Monday 10th - people won't be able to or need to book spaces after that hours will increase to Mon - Fri: 9am to 5pm

  • We'll be opening up more spaces so all our floors and rooms will be open with the exception of the Group Rooms and pods.

  • However all floors will be reduced in capacity for social distancing purposes

  • Staff on-site will be monitoring building occupancy and we will be operating a one in one out policy if the library is full

  • Book and DVD shelves will be open to customers again - you can browse, use items, and borrow items as normal - so the 'Click and Collect' service will come to an end, holds will only be able to be placed on items which are on loan.

  • If you use books for study in the building but don't borrow them you will be required to place them on our quarantine book trolleys. Staff will remove these from the floor and return them to shelves after 72 hours quarantine

  • Return of items is still via our entrance book bin at present

  • Laptops are currently not available

  • Enquiry services are still online and by phone - our help desks won't be re-opening yet

All of these changes will be subject to continued monitoring.

Returning Books and DVDs You Have On Loan

We know many of you have books on loan from us which you no longer require and would like to return.

We're happy to say the Library is now able to take book returns and you can do this:

- By dropping books in the Book Returns Bin at the Perry Library entrance doors - this means you don't even need to come into the Library to return books. Library staff will be checking this returns bin regularly and removing any items from borrowers records.

- By post. You can returns books to us at the address below and Library staff will remove them from your borrower record.
