Our Libraries: Croydon Campus Library

Croydon Campus Library & Student Centre

The Croydon Campus Library & Student Centre is located in Electric House, situated in Croydon town centre. The campus focuses on subjects related to healthcare, business and accounting. Our book collection covers both of these subject areas.

It is a hybrid service, acting as both a library and student centre. Students can enquire about any library or student services query from our help desk.

Borrowing and Returning Items

Borrowing Books

We have a collection of printed books in the library available for you to borrow. If you want to prepare in advance, you can find books appropriate to your course in our library catalogue before coming on site.

Reference only books, easily identified by the green sticker on their spine, cannot be taken out of the library but all other material can be borrowed from our self issue machine. All loanable books will initially be borrowed for two weeks, but will automatically renew on your record if no other student places a hold on them.

We also have a significant collection of electronic books and journal articles on our catalogue that can be accessed and read online via the Library Catalogue button above.

Returning Books

You can return borrowed items to the book returns bin located under the self issue machines. Library staff will then clear the book off your library record and re-shelve the item in the correct location.

Do you want to know how how many books you have checked out on your record? We can let you know at the help desk.

Further information about borrowing resources from our libraries.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

You can connect to the LSBU_WiFi network on your phone and personal laptop device when on campus. Please come to the help desk to get the password.

Borrowing Laptops

Do you need to borrow a laptop for personal study?

We currently have 15 laptops available for students to borrow, with more due to be added to our collection soon. You can pick up a laptop from the library help desk. Laptops will be checked our to your library record, so you should return it to the help desk before it closes at 5:00pm to avoid accumulating any fines. Laptops come pre-installed with essential software including Microsoft Office and AppsAnywhere.

Please note: student laptops are wiped and restored automatically every time they shut down. Please ensure you save your documents to a Cloud service such as OneDrive, or attach and send a copy to your student e-mail address before you turn the laptop off and return it.
