Password Reset

How to reset your password

Following the migration of IT accounts onto new servers, students will be prompted to reset their passwords next time they login to email or MS Teams.

Alternatively you can reset your password as follows:

  1. Open up a web browser such as Google Chrome and go to www.office.com.
  2. Click 'Sign in' but DO NOT LOG IN!  Enter your LSBU email address, then click 'Forgotten my password'.
  3. You will be asked to choose the sign-in option and then they be asked to choose security authentication method. This is either your security questions or send a onetime passcode code to alternative email or mobile phone text.

Once that is done you will be able to reset your password. Passwords now need to be more complex than they have been in the past so you will need to follow all of the below principles:

  • At least ten alphanumeric characters long

  • Contain both upper- and lower-case characters e.g., a-z, A-Z

  • Have numbers and punctuation characters as well as letters e.g., 0-9,!'#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~

  • memorable for you, but difficult for someone to guess

Once you have reset your password you will be able to access your email and Microsoft Teams account in the usual way.
