Student IT Support Guide: Welcome

MS Teams

Microsoft Teams is a chat-based collaboration platform complete with document sharing, online meetings, and many more extremely useful features for communications.

Being safe in MS Teams

Before you use MS Teams, you need to be aware of your responsibilities for keeping LSBU secure, looking after your data and ensuring that you are you safe. Always be wary of who you choose to share data with, especially using a collaborative tool which makes it easier for team and cross-team working. Think - is your document confidential or in other ways sensitive? Is it safe to be shared in a Team or in a post?

Please take a moment to read through the ICT Security Policy for students below.

Accessing MS Teams

  1. Go to: www.office.com
  2. When prompted, please enter your LSBU email address and LSBU password
  3. Click on the icon for MS Teams

You can find the quick guide for using MS Teams here:

Please note: You can only use the desktop version - mentioned in the quick guide - if you download it to your own PC or device.

Windows Accessibility Options

Did you know that in Windows 10 you can make onscreen text bigger and brighter?

Did you know that you can change the mouse pointer and the cursor size?

Have you heard of the Ease of Access Centre?

It’s in Settings in Windows 10.  There you’ll find these tools and other options – magnify all or part of the screen, try different colour filters or high-contrast schemes, use Windows Narrator to have things read out to you.

We can provide advice and introductory training on these accessibility tools, just ask at the help desk about booking an appointment.  You can also email us at library@lsbu.ac.uk

Visit this useful Youtube playlist for information on some of these tools

Adobe CC

Accessing Adobe Creative Cloud Off Campus

It is now possible for students and staff to access Adobe Creative Cloud Apps off campus.

A user guide can be found by clicking here.

This should work without any issues for anyone who does not already have Adobe products installed on their machines.

Simply log into Adobe CC and install the packages that you require.

If you do have older versions of Adobe CC and Adobe software already, then you should login to your Adobe account and try updating CC.

If you find that CC fails to update, try uninstalling and then re-installing Adobe CC.

Once Adobe Creative Cloud is updated you will be able to update existing software or install new Adobe products.
