Student IT Support: Software Downloads

Licensed Software Available to Download

While you are an LSBU student you get selected licensed software for free. Some courses require students to use certain specialist software.  

These software packages can be download to your own suitable devices for the duration of your studies.

Please note: these licences does not cover devices belonging to friends and family of LSBU students and staff, even if living at the same address.

Microsoft Office 365+

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a chat-based collaboration platform complete with document sharing, online meetings, and many more extremely useful features for communications.


Being safe in MS Teams

Before you use MS Teams, you need to be aware of your responsibilities for keeping LSBU secure, looking after your data and ensuring that you are you safe. Always be wary of who you choose to share data with, especially using a collaborative tool which makes it easier for team and cross-team working.

Think - is your document confidential or in other ways sensitive? Is it safe to be shared in a Team or in a post?

Download MS Teams on your desktop/laptop computer

Download Microsoft Teams

  1. Choose to download Desktop or Mobile
  2. Download and install
  3. Sign in with your LSBU email address and password

Access MS Teams web version - has less features than Desktop version

  1. Go to: www.office.com   
  2. When prompted, please enter your LSBU email address and LSBU password
  3. Click on the icon for MS Teams

Microsoft - Additional Software

Microsoft Visio or Microsoft Project software on your own device

These programs are only available on Windows PCs or laptops.

 

If you need one of these software programs for your course, your lecturer needs to request access for you from staff IT Services *

If permission has been granted, you will receive an email from Student IT Support with a link to the software and instructions on how to download it.

Please note: this may take up to 3 days following the request from your lecturer. If you have been waiting longer than this, please check with your lecturer to ensure that they have made the request before contacting us.

 

* Academic staff must complete the relevant self-service request form on the IT Services site.

Follow the instructions below to get a free copy of the Sophos Anti Virus product, on up to 10 devices, courtesy of LSBU Cyber Security.

Get Sophos Home

  1. Type in your LSBU email address to verify eligibility - ensure you type this correctly!
  2. A unique code and download link will be sent to your LSBU email account.
  3. Follow the steps to create your new account, register for and download Sophos security on your own devices.
  4. Use your personal email address for account creation and registration.

Downloading  Adobe Creative Cloud software on your own device

If you need this software for your course and you are using a Mac computer or notebook, your lecturer will need to request access for you from staff IT Services *
